Anthony Poulton-Smith was educated at Yardley Grammar School and then at the Open University. His talk on the Origins of Place Names is his most popular. He has published many books on the subject, including the place names of local counties like Warwickshire and Shropshire, as well as some further afield such as Cambridgeshire and Dorset. Now living in Tamworth, he an active member of the community, including President of the Friends of Tamworth Castle and Museum, Treasurer of the Tamworth Heritage Trust and Chair of the Tamworth Literary Festival.
