Historic Yardley has had more events than ever before across this year’s Birmingham Heritage Week, which ran from 11th to 20th September. Perhaps the highlight was Saturday 19th, when our Historic Yardley partners hosted a total of six separate events. They brought in visitors from across Birmingham, and beyond. Attractions included heritage crafts, arts and walks, as well as opportunities to visit Yardley’s historical buildings like St Edburgha’s Church and Blakesley Hall. For the first time during Heritage Week, the alms-houses, built in 1903, opened their doors to visitors. We were also delighted to be joined by the local 261st scouts.
